Performing Arts Level 3 BTEC Diploma at Suffolk One
This course is aimed at students who are primarily interested in gaining practical skills and experience prior to joining the Performing Arts industry. This is a two year course.
The units on the course have been devised to give a balanced programme for skills development in Drama, Dance and Music. In addition, students will fully participate in all aspects of production and administration. Students will have the opportunity to perform in a wide variety of productions, including Improvisation and Variety, Theatre for Children, as well as Jazz and Tap Dance.
Students should budget for the costs of attending live performances in order to gain maximum benefit from this course.
You will study a range of different units including learning about the Performing Arts Business, the Historical Context of Performance, and the skills of rehearsing and performing. In addition to this you will study a number of optional units which will develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of all three Performing Arts disciplines.
5 GCSEs A*-C including Maths or English and Drama, Dance or Music. All prospective students will be expected to prepare for and attend an audition.
This course is designed as a practical course and most of your marks are awarded based on the work you do in workshops, and during performances. There are written elements to the course that provide evidence of your work: these may include a workshop diary, reviews, evaluations and personal portfolios.
Students who enjoy working in a team will find that this course is the ideal springboard for training at degree level or for entrance to professional schools for the Performing Arts.
