CHASE Level 3 at Smestow School

Course description

This enrichment programme will work alongside the BTEC National Level 3 in Health and Social Care qualification or any course that you wish to undertake that requires you to work with others. This will enable you to enhance your practical skills, in order to make you more professionally qualified. This will also support UCAS, Apprenticeships or entering the work force. You will gain skills that include: Personal awareness, maturity, professionalism, good people skills and excellent communication skills. It will help to enhance knowledge of healthcare equipment. You will be working closely with clients in your chosen placement, often on a one-to-one basis. You must be trustworthy, sympathetic and have a friendly and professional attitude towards others. Tact and maturity are vital. Enrichment: to provide a course that supports each students’ individual learning and development in order to rise above the rest when applying for university, apprenticeships or a health and social care job role. Practical experiences: to work alongside Health and Social care professionals in private, voluntary or statutory settings, to gain practical experiences of working with clients, families and other multi-agency professionals. Links with local universities: to build on subject knowledge with visits to Health and Social sessions at university and to build upon links that will lead to students gaining a guaranteed interview for the course they are applying for.

Course content

Year 1 British Sign Language Stage 1 CACHE – Award in Child Care & Education 100 hours of Practical Work experience

Entry requirements

There is no prior knowledge of the subjects required although as there is a high level of English you would need a D in English


BSL – 3 practical signing exams CACHE Award in Childcare & Education – 2 written assignments Work placement, written feedback from placement
