Art & Design - Fashion at Island Innovation VI Form Campus

Course description

This course aims to develop individuals

who aspire to become innovative

designers and makers within the fashion

industry. You have the opportunity

to study an exciting, challenging and

specialist subject, with the benefits of

new equipment and workspaces. Fashion

and Clothing is a specialised industry and

the BTEC level 3 Diploma aims to prepare

learners for this exciting and challenging

area. You will work directly with industry

specialists, be given real design briefs and

deadlines to complete work.

Course content

To achieve the Diploma you will study

six units within the specification.

Topics covered include: Fashion

Design and Illustration techniques,

Ideas and Concepts for Fashion

and Clothing, Fashion Presentation

techniques, Catwalk Reports, exploring

specialist Textile Techniques, Garment

Construction and Production.

Work experience opportunities within

fashion companies, as well as a number

of research trips to London.

Entry requirements

5 A* - C at GCSE

Future opportunities

Throughout the two-year course designers

will build a portfolio of design and make

coursework. Learners can go on to study

fashion related courses at university

without having to study an art foundation

course before hand. Courses can include:

fashion and textile design, illustration,

buying and marketing, as well entering the

fashion industry with essential confidence,

knowledge and skills.
