BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care at The King's Academy

Course description

The BTEC Level 3 Diploma is equivalent to two A Levels A* to C. the course is '-vocational' so designed to provide work related qualifications. They offer students the necessary skills, understanding and knowledge to prepare them for employment. This course is only offered in the Sixth Form as students must be 16 years old or over.

The units have been developed to provide a full understanding of the Health and Social Care Sector and focus on; providing opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for successful performance in working life, as well as providing opportunities for the learners to gain a nationally recognised vocational qualification and potential progression to higher level vocational qualifications.

There are eight core units to be covered and four specialist units. The course also requires commitment towards 100 hours at a work placement in a care setting.

  • Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care
  • Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care.
  • Nutrition for Health and Social Care

  • Entry requirements

    At least a grade C in Maths and English Language or a Merit in BTEC
