Art and Design Level 3 Extended Diploma at Berkshire College of Agriculture

Course description

The department is a stepping stone to give you the skills to progress. We underpin all of our art and design work with the development of skills that employers are looking for; such as communication, time management, resourcefulness, persistence, meeting deadlines and independent learning.

Our department offers you both academic and vocational courses to allow you to progress on to art or design based degrees, either via our Foundation Diploma in Art and Design or straight from our Extended Diploma.

Course content

This course has a diagnostic period during the first year where students are introduced to the design process through a series of projects in a wide range of design disciplines. These skills will be underpinned with drawing and painting tasks and an insight into the work of other artists and designers.

The aim is to give students a solid grounding in design principles, as well as developing the underlying skills needed to visualise their ideas (including the development of photography skills) before offering the chance to specialise in one of the 4 design disciplines:

• Graphic Design
• Textiles/Fashion
• 3D Design
• Photography

Entry requirements

Minimum of five GCSEs at C or above, including an art subject (OR a Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design) as well as English and maths.
