Health and Social Care BTEC Level 2 Diploma at BSix Brooke House Sixth Form College

Course description

This one year course is intended to provide you with a knowledge of the health and care services, enabling you to investigate a range of areas for study. On this course you will also gain and understanding and the skills required for future practice and employment in health and/or care. You will be required to complete work placements as part of the course as well as homework.

Course content

WHAT WILL I BE DOING? You will study six units, two of which are compulsory. The two compulsory units are: - Communication and individual rights within the health and social care sectors - Individual needs within the health and social care sectors The Four optional units you will study are: - Vocational experience in a health or social care setting - Cultural diversity in health and social care - Anatomy and physiology for health and social care - The impact of diet on health

Entry requirements

Level 2 Diplomas for students with 4 D grades at GCSE.

Assessment

All parts of this course are assessed through portfolio work which means that you will need to compete assignments/ projects throughout the course. An external examiner will come to the College to assess the quality of the work you produce.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you have a qualification which is equivalent to four GCSEs. You will be able to go into employment within the health and social care services (e.g. as a care assistant, home help, support worker etc), or progress t
