Aims and Objectives of these Qualifications

These qualifications aim to help support the learner’s personal development through acquiring skills and knowledge in sport, exercise and fitness. The qualifications also allow learners to gain personal transferrable skills that can be applied to the workplace or further study.

The objectives of these qualifications are to help learners to:

a) Gain an understanding of the sport, exercise and leisure vocational sector

b) Study areas of particular interest

c) Encourage learners to adopt a fitter and healthier lifestyle.

Course content

Essential skills

While undertaking this qualification, learners will develop the knowledge, understanding and essential skills employers look for in employees. These range from familiar key skills such as team working, independent learning and problem solving to more tricky-to-measure skills such as:

a) An appreciation for appropriate behaviour and dress

b) Appropriate interpersonal skills

c) Communicating with professional colleagues/peers and/or hierarchical seniors

d) Supporting other learners.

Entry requirements

This course is open to individuals between the ages of 16 and 18 years, who wish to develop skills and knowledge in sport.

There are no formal qualifications required for entry onto the course.
