Religious Studies at Didcot Sixth Form College
AS Unit 1 Philosophy of Religion.
Unit 2 Islam.
A2 Unit 3 Philosophy of Religion.
Unit 4 Islam.
The course begins with a study of ultimate issues such as the existence of God, the problem of evil, and religion and science.
In Unit 2 students undertake study of key features of Islam including the origins of the religion, beliefs about God and religious practices. At A2 Philosophical themes and topics are introduced addressing key aspects of religious experience, miracles, and life and death. In Unit 4 students study Islamic perspectives on key aspects of human experience such as family life, the position of women and the concept of Jihad.
If you achieve at least 5 C grades or above or the equivalent youcould consider Advanced Level courses.However, for the majority of Level 3 subjects B grades at GCSEare required. Specific grade requrements for subjects are available from staff and will be discussed at interview .
