Course content

The GCE Business Studies Course is a qualification that allows students to develop a critical understanding of organisations, the markets they serve and the process of adding value.  It includes the study of stakeholders including customers, managers, creditors, owners/shareholders and employees.  In addition, students are made aware of the economic, environmental, ethical, governmental, legal, social and technological issues associated with business activity.Why take this course?The course allows you to develop a real understanding of how business works in the real world.  You will study the problems and opportunities faced by all businesses and work on the various modules outlined below:-The AS Units – Year 12Module 1 -         Marketing, Accounting and FinanceModule 2 -         People and Operations ManagementModule 3 -         External Influences, Objectives and StrategyThe A2 Units – Year 13Module 1 -         Marketing, Accounting and FinanceModule 2 -         People and Operations ManagementModule 3 -         External Influences, Objectives and StrategyIn Year 13, the modules are studied in much greater depth.

Assessment

The AS and A2 modules are assessed by examination with knowledge and application having greater importance in AS and analysis and evaluation greater importance in A2
