GCE AS Level Expressive Textiles at Queen Elizabeth School

Course description

AS Expressive Textiles has two assessed units: 1. Coursework Portfolio - The emphasis is on how to research effectively using a sketchbook. This is a purely practical element of AS and allows you to gain skills in working in a wide variety of different textile and mixed media materials whilst also polishing existing skills in various media. You will also learn to analyse both your own work and the work of others in contemporary, historical and cultural contexts. 2. Controlled Assignment - A formal 5 hour examination. You will have a set brief or stimulus such as a word. You develop a personal response to the theme using a sketchbook and produce a focused piece of textile work during the exam.

Entry requirements

GCSE passes in 5 subjects, including Art, with grades A - C (A - B preferred), plus an interview and reference
