Course description

AS Unit 1:

Spoken Expression and Response in Spanish

In this unit you will be expected to give relevant andappropriate information, convey opinions, interact andrespond to a range of questions.

AS Unit 2:

Understanding andWritten Response in Spanish

This unit requires you to understand and convey yourunderstanding of Spanish language texts and recordings. Inaddition, you will need to produce an essay to demonstratean ability to manipulate the Spanish language in continuouswriting.

A2 Unit 3:

Understanding and Spoken Response in Spanish

This unit requires you to demonstrate the effectiveness ofyour Spanish language skills by presenting and taking a clearstance on any issue of your choice. You will be expected tointeract effectively with the teacher/examiner, defend yourviews and sustain discussion as the teacher/examiner movesthe conversation away from your chosen issue.

A2 Unit 4:

Research, Understanding andWritten Responsein Spanish

This unit requires you to demonstrate skills in advancedlevelSpanish writing (discursive or creative essay) andtranslation from English into Spanish. The unit also requiresyou to demonstrate evidence of independent, advanced-levelSpanish language reading and research of a chosen text, play,film or topic area that links to the culture and/or society of aSpanish-speaking country, countries or community.

5 GCSEs at grade C or above with a grade B in Spanish.


1 assessment and 1 exam in each year.
