Computing in IT - Subsidiary Level 3 at North Kent College

Course description

For those interested in working, or further study in the field of Computing or Information Technology in a variety of areas.

This is equivalent to 1 GCE A Level that means that when you have finished the course you can choose whether to look for employment or onto year 2 for the Extended Diploma, worth 3 A levels, or go into higher education. 

The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in IT Level 3 will give you the essential knowledge, understanding and skills to progress into a specific area of work which will incorporate the use of ICT and move onto a more responsible job if already in employment. 

The nature of the course structure allows the qualification to be flexible and adapted to meet your interests and aspirations. 

Employment opportunities: 
With the international recognition of BTEC courses such as this, you can progress straight into employment. If successful there are a wide variety of potential careers that you can explore. 

Further vocational and academic qualifications: 
The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in IT Level 3 has the equivalence of one GCE A Level, and it is possible for you to progress further into higher education if you already have UCAS points. You may wish to explore HNC/HNDs. 

This course contains theoretical and practical elements, learning by completing projects and assessments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. 

The course is structured such that you will focus on a particular subject area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge and learn about the employment area that you have chosen as well as developing the skills you need to start a career in IT.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and Mathematics or BTEC IT Users level 3 or equivalent qualification

Assessment

Continuous assessment through practical assignments and portfolio development based on industry situations

Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): £135
