Applied ICT AS/A2 at Stanborough School

Course description

The AS/A2 Applied ICT qualification aims to produce effective users of ICT. Students will investigate a wide range of ICT themes, which will equip them with the skills and knowledge to solve problems and make choices using ICT techniques.
They will be aware of the benefits and drawbacks of ICT and its impact on the way in which people live their lives. Each year, students complete two e-portfolios (coursework) and sit one practical examination. Students learn about ICT in a variety of contexts such as Life in the Information Age, the Digital Economy, Project Management and Multimedia as well as using spreadsheets and databases.
Students will select and use appropriate ICT tools and techniques to help them carry out investigations; capture and handle data, solve problems, make decisions, present and communicate information, increase their awareness of the benefits and drawbacks of ICT and its impact on the way people live their lives, learn how to plan and manage projects and work effectively with others.

Entry requirements

A*-C at GCSE, equivalent or similar subject.APS: 40 or above
