Course description

Biology is the study of life and living organisms. It tells us how things function and grow, where you might find them and how they have evolved. It includes ecology, physiology and genetics as well as molecular and cellular Biology.

Course Structure:

Unit 1 Biology and Disease 33.3% 1 hour 15 min exam

Unit 2 Living Organisms 46.7% 1 hour 45 min exam

Unit 3 Investigative and Practical Skills ISA 20% internal assessment

A2

Unit 4 Populations and the Environment 33.3% 1 hour 30 min exam

Unit 5 Control in Cells and Organisms 46.7% 2 hour 15 min exam

Unit 6 Investigative and Practical Skills ISA ISA 20% internal assessment.

Entry requirements

B in both Core and Additional Science or BBB in triple Science; B in English; C in Maths. Minimum of a C grade in English/English Language and Mathematics.You must have five or more A* to C grades at GCSE (or merit grades at BTEC). These must include at least a C grade in English/English Language or Mathematics.
