Music AS at King David High School

Course description

At AS level pupils will:

* explore different areas of study that will include The Western Classical Tradition, Choral Music in the Baroque Period, Music Theatre, British Popular Music 1960’s to present day and study of set works.
* learn how to compose in either a free or pastiche style and how to arrange music (including music technology).
* learn about different ways of interpreting musical ideas through either live performing or music technology.

Entry requirements

GCSE Music Grade C and above. Some practical ability on one instrument at AB Grade 5 standard and the ability to read music.

To follow the music technology options some prior knowledge of music technology software and recording.


At AS level pupils will be assessed through a 1 hour 45 minute 3 section written and listening exam based on the areas of study and the set works, composition coursework based on briefs.
