Course description

The Edexcel in GCE Health and Social Care has been developed to provide a broad educational basis for higher education or for training for appropriate employment within the Health and Social Care sector. It has been designed to be delivered in a work related context and to allow you to develop an understanding of the diverse and complex nature of the Health and Social Care sector.

The AS Level consists of three units. Unit 1, ‘Human Growth and Development’ helps you to develop the knowledge necessary to work with people in every stage of their lives. Unit 2, ‘Communication and Values’ gives you an understanding of the importance of communication in care professions and the care value base. The final Unit, ‘Positive Care Environments’ ensures that you understand how organisations and society have a responsibility to protect and safeguard the rights of those who are vulnerable, and how this can be achieved.

At A2 you will study three more units: ‘Meeting Individual Needs’, ‘Promoting Health and Well Being’ and ‘Investigating Disease.’ Sound interesting? If you are looking for a career in the Health and Social Care industry, then you should definitely consider this course!
