Performing Arts Dance at St Paul's Catholic College

Course description

A highly practical and exciting course which aims to build upon students’ enthusiasm for dance and prepare them for one of the toughest and most competitive industries in the world. Working in groups and individually you will develop technique and your existing skills as a dancer and choreographer in order to create work for performance.

You will also improve your knowledge of arts administration and marketing, learn the techniques of influential dance practitioners and develop understanding of different styles from varying cultures. The emphasis is always on exploring the students’ imagination and creativity. If you have a practical interest and some ability in dance, enjoyed studying dance at GCSE or BTEC First level and you want an active, practical course which will stretch you, then this is definitely for you.

The first year Subsidiary Diploma is the equivalent of one A2 level with progression into the second year Diploma gaining students the equivalent of two A2 levels overall. Core units are studied and each year optional units are selected to suit and challenge our students.
