Course description

The Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology (CMPT) provides students with the opportunity to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to Higher Education and employment in the media sector.

The Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology is a broad diagnostic course with opportunities to engage with all of the processes that go into the creation of moving image products. It also looks at pre-production through to production and editing.

Vocationally based in content, the course will give you an insight into the range of roles and responsibilities in the media sector and the requirements for a career in the creative media industry.

Course content

Through project-based learning, you will learn how to research, develop ideas and develop technical skills and ability to evaluate outcomes. You will have the opportunity to research the history and context of media disciplines and feed it into your practice.

You will have the opportunity to solve complex problems through the application of practical skills, theoretical and technical understanding.

Becoming a more independent learner, you will take more responsibility for the research, planning, time management and actions to access progression opportunities in Higher Education or related work.

A Final Major Project gives you the opportunity to demonstrate integration of all aspects of the course in a chosen area of interest which shows an approach which is in depth and sophisticated. The Final Major Project will also help you to further develop your portfolio of evidence for progression to Higher Education or employment in the creative industries.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at a minimum of Grade C including English and Mathematics, one in Creative Media Production and Technology or a related subject or a relevant Level 2 qualification.

You must be aged 16+.
