Information Technology BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate at Lakes College West Cumbria

Course description

This course is suitable for you if you have some basic experience in working with computers and would like to build on the practical skills needed to gain employment in the industry. This course will cover the basics of computing and IT and will introduce you to units including; The Online World (Exam) , Multimedia, Technology Systems (Exam), Computer Networks, Website Development, Installing Computer Software, and Mobile Apps Development. Learning is interactive and dynamic and is assessed through a range of practical assignments throughout the year along with the two externally examined modules.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs A*-D including English and Maths or Level 1 in a relevant subject

Financial information

Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds who do not already have a full level 2 qualification e.g 5 GCSE's grade A*-C. Also free to learners who are in receipt of JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) ESA ((Employment Support Allowance, (work related activity)) or Universal Credit (mandated). Where fees are payable you can set up a payment plan that best suits your needs

Future opportunities

You can further your studies on a Level 3 in IT or seek employment in the industry. This qualification could lead to a variety of roles such as Database Assistant, IT Technician, Computer Engineer, Software Professional, Games Developers, Telecoms Technician, Network Engineer, Web Developer etc
