In A Level ICT, you will develop a broad range of skills and knowledge and understanding of ICT.

It combines well with other subjects, and will lead to a huge range of further opportunities such as computing and business related courses at university, and careers in programming, software development and engineering.

Course content

During Year 12 (AS) you will study 2 modules:

  1. Information Systems
  2. Presenting Information.

During Year 13 (A2) you will study two further units:

  1. Use and Impact of ICT
  2. Relational databse project

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at Grade C is the minimum entry requirement, although we recommend an average of 8 Grade C GCSEs.

Although it is not necessary to have completed an ICT qualification before joining the course, it is an advantage.

You will be assessed by both coursework and examinations.

At both AS and A2, 60% will be assessed by examination and 40% by coursework.

Financial information

There are no additional costs for ICT.

Further information

Units 2 & 4 involve producing documents for a business which can be real or fictitious. Finding a business to assist you in the production of this unit may aid you in developing your coursework.

Whilst all our courses are compatible with each other, the timetable may limit some combinations.
