Course content

Arithmetic, algebra, data handling and shape, space and measure and using and apply maths are the four main components of this course.

We try to ensure 100% entry onto this course for year 10 students. Although entry level mathematics is available, if appropriate.

Assessment

Two modular stage tests over the two years and a final extended stage test.

One of the modular papers will contain multiple choice questions. Resit tests may beused at the discretion of the teacher.

Future opportunities

The school encourages pupils who have taken higher mathematics at GCSE to embark on a study of A-Level mathematics within the school. Most employers look for a grade C at mathematics GCSE. Further study of the subject helps enormously with both Science, Geography and Psychology at A-Level.
