Film & TV Production UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma (full-time) at East Surrey College

Course description

This course is aimed at students who would like to study Media at Level 3. This is a more meaningful vocational alternative to the ‘A’ Level route offering a solid grounding for specialisation. It is both hands-on and academic and will introduce students to the essential skills needed for a variety of roles in contemporary media production, providing the analytical and critical skills for progression to higher education.

 Factual Programme Production
 Graphic Communication for Media Products
 Lens Based Media Production
 Critical and Contextual Studies in the Media
 Sound Production for Media Products
 Marketing and Advertising for Media Products

Entry requirements

Six GCSEs grade A*- C including English and Maths. Level 2 qualifications at Merit/Distinction level in relevant subjects may also be acceptable. You will be required to complete a short written task prior to interview at which you will be expected to demonstrate specific skills related to media.

Assessment

Formative assessment will take place during projects in one-to-one and group tutorials, peer assessment, screenings and presentations. At the end of each project a formal assessment by portfolio and tutorial will take place.

Financial information

If you are under 19 on 31/08/2016, tuition is free. If you are 19 or over please consult Client Services for advice and guidance on funding and eligibility.
 
Please be aware that there may be additional costs for equipment and educational visits. This information will be available from the curriculum staff at interview.

Future opportunities

The course is equivalent to 3/4 A Levels. Those who complete the course successfully will be able to apply to study a degree or Higher National Diploma. Alternatively you will be able to seek employment in the media industries

Further information

Portable hard drive (500GB to 1TB) and a suitable pair of headphones. You will need to buy other materials from time to time and trips will take place 1-2 times per term.
