Course description

AS – Physical and Human Geography (rivers floods and management; population change; energy issues and coastal management) and Geographical Skills.

A Level – Contemporary Geographical Issues (plate tectonics and hazards; world cities; development and globalisation) and a Geographical Issue Evaluation

Course content

Students do not need a GCSE qualification in Geography, but should have an interest in the world around them.

Future opportunities

A Level Geography is related to a vast number of careers for a number of reasons.  Geography as a subject develops a huge range of transferable skills which employers value highly, for example problem solving, and analysis.  Some of the main vocational areas which employ geographers include:  environmental management; management and administration; leisure, travel and tourism, business and finance, scientific services, education, professional and social services etc.
