BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting) at Sir Frederic Osborn School

Course description

A BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts is
a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing
projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace
situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the
employment area you have chosen, you also develop the skills you
need to start a career.
It is equivalent to two A levels which means when you have
finished the course you can choose whether to get a job straight
away or go into higher education first.
The course is made up of twelve units. The four mandatory
units which everyone takes are: Principles of Acting, Performance
Workshop, The Performing Arts Business and Performing to
an Audience. The last unit contributes towards a major public
production.
There are also eight specialist units which enable you to study
particular areas in depth and include Devising, Classical Theatre,
Contemporary Theatre, Improvisation, Applying Physical Theatre,
Mask Performance, Approaches to Directing and Theatre in
Education.

Entry requirements

No specific subject requirements*APS: 40 or above
