Uniformed Services Level 1 Diploma and Sport and Leisure Level 1 Diploma at Chichester College

Course description

Combined course introducing sports and uniformed services to help students gain knowledge and choose a career path into either uniformed services or the sports industry An introduction course into the sports industry, this course consists of three modules investigating Working in the Leisure Industry, Health and Safety and Sports Leadership. An introduction to different careers in the Uniformed Services, participating in various uniformed services entry tests , undertaking map reap tasks.

Course content

Working in the Sports Industry, Health & Safety, Sports coaching. Working in the Uniformed Services ,Map Reading, Outdoor Adventure, Team Working, Outdoor Sports & Self Discipline 

Combined through theory and practical sessions. Classes will be taught in both a classroom and practical environment. There will be expeditions locally, these will be on foot and cycling. 

 

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs grade D - G An interest in Sport and Public Services, outdoor activities and recreation

Assessment

Assessment is through portfolios, which involve students collecting evidence. You will be requried to complete work placement within the College Sports centre to gain knowledge of the sports industry.Evidence will be collected via observation completing a range of tasks.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the level 1 programme students can choose to
either follow a sports or uniformed services path by progressing onto
BTEC L2 Diploma in Sport or Public Services.

Further information

The college has excellent sporting facilities. We have a sports hall with
a fitness suite as well as a floodlit astro pitch and grass pitches, with
many opportunities to participate in sport. We have an active Student
Union which organises many and varied activities over the academic
year.
 
Students will be required to bring sports kit every day whilst at college ,
suitable walking boots and waterproofs will also be required
,plastic wallets , pens and a memory stick will be required.
