This course will push you way beyond your perceived limits.

Topics studied include:

· Complex Numbers

· Further Calculus (Differentiation and Integration)

· Further Algebraic Manipulation

· Further Trigonometry

· Further Vectors

· Hyperbolic Functions

· Further Applied Mathematics

 

 

Entry requirements

It is recommended that you have a grade 8 in Maths.

You must take Mathematics as an A-Level.

Love of (yes, that's right, a love of) Maths essential!

 

Assessment

Assessments will take place throughout the year to monitor progress.

The final assessment for AQA will consist of three examinations for A-Level Mathematics at the end of year 12 and three Further Mathematics examinations at the end of year 13.

 

 

Financial information

We strongly recommend that you purchase a graphical calculator and the preferred model is the Casio FX-9750GII (these are available directly throught the college and we recommend you purchase them through us).

 

Future opportunities

Studying Further Mathematics is excellent preparation for university. Many universities now encourage students to take Further Mathematics qualifications to improve their preparation for Mathematics-related courses. Some leading universities now specify Further Mathematics as an entry requirement for certain courses.
