Why study this subject at Hayesfield?

Studying Further Mathematics is not for the faint-hearted, but at Hayesfield you will be really well supported. Further Maths is extremely highly regarded by universities because it is challenging and shows logical thought processes and problem solving skills.

If you have a passion for Mathematics and are considering it as part of your higher studies, Further Maths will give you greater breadth and depth for your application.

Course content

This is a two-year A Level. The course includes one third each of:

Pure Maths

Further Mechanics

Decision Maths.

Topics include complex numbers, proof by induction, matrices, algorithms, calculations with forces, momentum and energy and more.

Entry requirements

Grade 8 Maths at GCSE is required.

You must have a good feel for Maths, be prepared to work hard and have an eye for detail and accuracy.

Assessment

4 written exams in June of the second year
