IELTS at The Sixth Form College Farnborough

Course description

This course is for students whose first language is not English (ESOL students) only.  

What is IELTS?

Leading to an internationally recognised certificate in English Language, IELTS is a one year course which will provide you with both the necessary linguistic skills to achieve your full potential in your subject studies and a highly valued entrance qualification for Higher Education and employment.

IELTS will help you meet the language demands of your subject studies and is a useful qualification for a wide range of university courses and employment.

Course content

This course is for all students whose first language is not English, both Home and Overseas Students, who require the academic version of the International English Testing System (IELTS) as an entrance requirement for a college or university course in the above fields.

Entry requirements

  • Students with a GCSE English grade D and who are following a level 3 (AS/A2) programme will be offered this course instead of one of their subject choices.
  • Students with an English GCSE grade C can also take this course if it is an entrance requirement of the university they wish to apply to in the future.
