NVQ Level 2 in Fitted Interiors at City Training Services

Course description


This involves 5 Mandatory Units.  The Apprentice will attend College for 1 day each week.  Apprentices will be observed and assessed by fully qualified and experienced tutors at college and Work Based recorders in the workplace.  The Apprentice will receive full support whilst training and will have a dedicated training co-ordinator who will give pastoral support, maintain regular contact and conduct a progress review every 10 weeks.  Prior to completing the Apprenticeship the Apprentice will have completed a comprehensive portfolio of evidence showing competency in all areas of Fitted Interiors.

Knowledge Based Evidence

There is a Diploma to complete for the Apprenticeship, comprising 3 Mandatory Units, 2 Optional Units and a series of End Tests including Practical Assessments.  This part of the qualification is the underpinning knowledge the Apprentice will need to do the job effectively, covering Workplace Health & Safety, Developing and Maintaining Good Working Relationships and Methods of Work.

Functional Skills

Functional Skills in Application of Number and Communications at Level 1 are part of the framework but GCSE Grade C’s in English and Maths will exempt the Apprentice from doing these.

QCF 121:- Installing Fitted Furniture in the Workplace

QCF 643:- Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace



Y/501/7454:- Know how to carry out Safe Working Practices in Construction

D/501/7455:- Carry out Safe Working Practices in Construction

L/501/4969:- Knowledge of Information, Quantities and Communicating with Others

Plus 2 of the following Optional Units:-

F/501/4970:- Information, Quantities and Communicating with Others 2

J/501/4971:- Knowledge of Building Methods and Construction Technology 2

L/501/4972:- Building Methods and Construction Technology 2

L/501/8181:- Know how to Install Fitted Furniture

K/501/8186:- Install Fitted Furniture

T/501/8191:- Know how to Install Basic Plumbing

F/501/8193:- Install Basic Plumbing

L/501/8187:- Prepare for and Fit Out a Kitchen and Cloakroom

Entry requirements

It is recommended that Apprentices have at least Grade D in English and Maths GCSE or have attained Level 1 on the BKSB Assessment.


On Site Assessment by College Assessor, End Tests in College, Classroom/Workshop Assessment by Tutor and Portfolio Evidence.

Future opportunities

Upon completion of the Course the Learner will be qualified to Install Fitted Furniture.
