Course description

This is a broad-based qualification involving Biology, Chemistry and Physics. It’s a really good course if you want to study science further but don’t have the entry requirements for the separate sciences. It goes very well with a lot of subjects, such as Geography and Health & Social Care.

Course content

The fundamentals of all three science subjects. Laboratory skills such as titrations, correct use of precision equipment, quantitative testing and many more practical based skills.

Entry requirements

You will need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Mathematics, with Additional Science at grade 4.

Assessment

The course is separated into modules some being externally moderated and marked (examinations). Others modules are internally completed and marked (portfolio). You must pass all modules to achieve the qualification.

Future opportunities

This course would support your application on to practical based science courses at university such as applied science, nursing, midwifery, environmental studies, conservation, health & social care, occupational therapy and operating department practice. This would also be a useful subject for students wishing to progress into employment where scientific skills are part of the job role such as trainee roles in allied healthcare sections of the NHS.
