Art and Design BTEC Level 2 at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College

Course description

This course provides a broad approach to Art that allows students to develop a sound grounding in a number of areas such as Painting, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Textiles, Photography and Performance Art whilst still exploring the subject in depth. Students will be able to develop artistic ideas and skills through sustained investigations and exploration, and identify, interpret and analyse methods and outcomes.
On completion of this course you may progress onto the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design at Shooters Hill Campus. This will enable progression to university or employment at a technician level. Alternatively, you may enter employment into the industry and return to study further professional qualifications on a part time basis.

Course content

Each course structures are made up of 7 units (6 core and 2 specialist units). The other four subjects will be assessed by subject assignments that will be submitted to the validating body. The course is 20 hours per week for 36 weeks.

Building an Art and Design Portfolio
Working in the Art and Design Industry

Optional Units: Candidates will also work towards two of these units.

Working with Photography Briefs
Working with Textile Briefs
Working with Site-specific briefs

Entry requirements

It is a requirement that you should have studied Art & Design before taking a BTEC Diploma Level 2
At Level 1 you need: 4 GCSEs at Grades G-F
At Level 2 you need: 4 GCSEs at Grades E and above
