Course description

If you have an interest in art or design and enjoy thinking creatively, this could be the course for you.

Course content

You will be developing your painting, drawing and sculpting skills through research projects. You will explore materials, processes and techniques of other artists and have the opportunity to study in depth any aspect of the visual arts that is of interest to you.

By the end of Year 13 you will be required to produce a separate individual study about an aspect of art of your own choice consisting of a minimum of 1500 words plus your own art work.


How do I pass the course?

You need good attendance and punctuality throughout the course to pass each module and improve your skills. At the end of Year 12 there is a controlled assignment lasting 5 hours and at the end of Year 13 a controlled test of 15 hours.

Entry requirements

You will need at least a grade C in art at GCSE.

Future opportunities

The course will give you the chance to see if you want a career in art and design. You could go to higher education, art foundation or work in the art industry.
