Spanish AS AQA at Sandown Bay Academy

Course description

Spanish is spoken in twenty-one countries and is now the world’s second most widely spoken language. Degrees in Spanish range from courses in language and culture to combinations with business, law, management and sciences. Many former Sandown students on degree courses have chosen to spend their year abroad in Latin America, while others have studied in Madrid, Barcelona and Seville. Our A-level linguists develop high-level communication skills as well as the ability to translate, interpret, summarise and understand texts. Through learning about contemporary Spanish and Latin American society, students are also prepared for future travel and work possibilities throughout the Spanish-speaking world. AS Units: These combine to provide up to 50% of the A-Level marks. Two Units are tested. One is via a mixed-skills paper, requiring proficiency in Listening, Speaking and Writing. The other is an Oral Exam.
