Plastering Diploma Level 2 at City College

Course description

The Diploma level 2 course is for those who have already been successful in achieving a Diploma Level 1, Foundation Construction Award or City & Guilds 6217 in Plastering, or who are able to demonstrate considerable experience of Plastering skills prior to joining the course.

Course content

This is a vocational course which involves both practical and theory/background knowledge elements.

You will study a combination of practical and theoretical skills to form a skill base and an understanding of the trade. You will study a number of units, including:-
storage of materials; interpreting information; selecting materials, components and equipment; internal solid Plastering; different styles of one and two coat rendering systems; mechanically fixing plaster boarding; health and safety; scaffolding; fixing and finishing dry lining; laying floor screeds; and decorative fibrous plasterwork. You will also study Key Skills, Mathematics and English.

Entry requirements

As a guide, learners should be able to work at a level equivalent to GCSE Mathematics and English at Grades A-D. All learners must pass an assessment test as part of an interview, and will have already achieved a Foundation Construction Award or City & Guilds 6217 prior to joining this course. To successfully complete the full qualification it is necessary for you to achieve 90% attendance.

Assessment

A variety of methods will be used, which may include multiple choice tests, and your building a portfolio of coursework. All elements must be successfully achieved in order to gain full certification.

Financial information

All students pay a non-refundable Administration Fee of £10.00 regardless of status. The course *fee is £690.00 (inclusive of materials, registration, tuition, assessment and certification). Total fees = £700.00.

Future opportunities

After you have successfully completed this programme of study you might wish to progress onto the Diploma Level 3 in Plastering; and/or seek employment as a Plastering Apprentice or Trainee with an employer. Staff will help you decide what is best for you.
