Entry 3 Extended Certificate in Vocational Studies (Catering) at West Kent College

Course description

Learn basic skills for work in the hospitality and catering industry.

As part of your introduction to the catering industry, you will learn important skills that employers look for, such as:

• Customer service
• Basic food preparation and cooking techniques
• Food safety
• Health and safety in the workplace
• Planning and attending a work placement

The course includes work experience and maths and English functional skills or GCSE.

You will need to purchase equipment and clothing from an external supplier. All course costs will be discussed at interview.

Entry requirements

You will need English and maths at Entry Level 2. You must have an interest in catering and it is advised you also attend a skills assessment day for your chosen course level.

Future opportunities

You could progress on to a relevant Level 1 Catering course.
