Plastering Level 1 Diploma at West Herts College

Course description

If you’re a practical person who loves seeing something you build come to life before your eyes, then the specialist craft of plastering could be for you. Skilled plasterers are always in demand, with many more jobs set to be created over the next few years.

This Level 1 programme is a great way to take your first steps in the industry, giving you the practical skills and confidence you need to progress into work or on to higher levels of study at College.

Course content

The course is workshop and classroom based, giving you the best of both theory and practical learning. You’ll learn about solid and fibrous plastering through subjects such as:

  • Preparing background surfaces and plaster materials

  • Applying plaster materials to internal backgrounds

  • Producing components from moulds

  • Forming sand and cement screeds

You’ll have the opportunity to develop practical English and maths skills and take part in GAP work experiences to get you ready for employment.

Entry requirements

Hand-eye coordination and a good attitude towards work will set you off on the right foot.

Future opportunities

Successfully complete this course and you can progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Plastering.
