A Level Media Studies at Chiltern Hills Academy

Course description

Year 1 AS Level

  • Investigating media - assessment by examination
  • Creating media - practical production.

The full A Level qualification is made up of the AS units plus two more units which are studied at A2 Level. You do not necessarily have to take the full A Level qualification; you can still get a certificate just for the AS, and your teacher will advise you on what is best. If you do decide to take the second half of the course it will cover the two units described below.

    Year 2 A2 Level

  • Critical perspectives - assessment by examination
  • Research and production - coursework assessment.
  • Entry requirements

Students embarking on AS and A2 Level in GCE Media Studies need to be enthusiastic about the media (television, radio, film, the press, advertising and the internet). It is not essential to have studied Media at GCSE level.
