Engineering Academic Route Foundation Diploma/Extended Diploma (top-up) Level 3 at Leeds City College
Building on the scientific and mathematic skills developed at level 2, this course prepares you for higher-level study at university, you will be on the way to becoming a leader in the engineering industry.
If you wish to progress to university, undertaking a degree in engineering, this course will equip you with the theory, academic skills and engineering know-how to further develop.

For the Extended Diploma you will undertake a further six modules in various engineering disciplines.
These courses provide a pathway to university or onto advanced apprenticeships.
Undertaking the diploma is for those of you who are seeking an advanced apprenticeship or wishing to progress onto a HNC/HND programme in engineering.
The extended diploma is for those who wish to progress to university, undertaking a degree in engineering.
You will further develop your skills in mathematics, science and engineering principles.
For the diploma you will undertake 11 modules including Health and Safety, Maths for Engineering, Science for Engineering, Engineering Principles, Electrical Principles and a bespoke project that you will decide on.
For the extended diploma you will undertake a further 6 modules in various engineering disciplines.
Entry requirements for this course are a minimum of five GCSEs. Four at grade C (including English) and one at grade B in maths. Alternatively you could have undertaken our Level 2 Academic Route course, which will prepare you for the Level 3 programme.
A satisfactory college admissions interview is also needed.
This will be assessed by a number of assignments for each of the modules.

After successful completion of the diploma you will be able to progress onto an advanced apprenticeship or a HNC/HND in Engineering.
After successful completion of the extended diploma you will have gained enough UCAS points for university level study. Alternatively you could also seek an advanced apprenticeship or a HNC/HND in Engineering.
For both, alternatively you could seek employment.
English and Maths will be built into your course if your grades are below 4/5.
