English Language A-Level at Daventry UTC
A-Level English Language involves study of the evolution, development, acquisition and use of English over time. We focus on how language is used in a variety of contexts throughout society and will, wherever possible, contextualise our study to fit in with the UTC specialisms.
Ideally students will have at least a B in GCSE English Language.
External Examinations at the end of year 12 which will focus on the use of language across a range of contexts and scenarios. There will be the requirement for independent research and study throughout the course.
Internally Assessed Coursework Portfolio. This portfolio assesses the ability of the student to use language in their own productions. These can be pieces of Fiction or Non-Fiction Writing and will be accompanied by a commentary explaining the use and impact of the language used.
