Sociology AS/A Level at Sandwich Technology School

Course description

Sociology is often studied as a unit within many degree courses and it is also an ideal opportunity to study current issues in modern Britain. This course would suit students wanting to follow a career in social work, teaching, youth or community work and many other areas. Sociology is often a component of any career that involves working with people.


Course content

This course is a useful complement to any vocational or A level course because it encourages a deeper understanding of societies' structures and institutions. Students will develop an understanding of how to effectively undertake research at a higher level. This is very useful for students wishing to go on to University or Higher Education.

At least 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 including English Language or Literature, preferably at grade 6


Assessment will be through written examinations at the end of each academic year. There is no coursework component.
