Course description

Why should I come to Runshaw to study Creative Media Production?

The Level 2 Media course is a practical, work-related course based upon the Television and Multi-Media Industry. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will be given practical video, photographic and graphics projects aimed at developing the essential skills you need to start a career or study at a higher level.

You will have the chance to access a wide variety of enrichment activities, including:

  • Participation in Runshaw TV and The Voice Radio
  • Visits relevant to the vocational area of Media
  • Guest speakers
  • Fundraising activities
  • Voluntary work

You will also have the opportunity to use the production equipment outside of college hours to pursue interests and complete assignments.

The pass rate for 2018 on this course was 100%, with 35% of students achieving high grades.

What will I study?

The course aims to answer questions about the media industry:

  • What does a Director do on a music video shoot?
  • Who really pays for the BBC?
  • Why do you buy certain films or video games?

As part of the course you will also study English and Maths to help you to reach your full potential and to prepare you for progression.  

Entry requirements

For access to our Level 2 courses, our entry requirements are 4 x Grade 3 equivalent (4 x Grade 3 or D). This should include Maths or English (Language or Literature) at Grade 3, and no less than a 2 in the other.

For Creative Media Production specifically, this should include Grade 3 in English (Language or Literature).

Assessment

How is the course assessed?

Through a variety of practical creative briefs which reflect the Media industry. Assessment is through an online blog where students reflect and advance their own learning, and have the opportunity to develop their own personal interests and research, plan, and produce professional media productions.

Financial information

No course fees are applicable for 16-18 year old learners who meet funding regulations.
