Maths GCSE (Resit course) at King Edward VII
The GCSE Maths (Resit) group will be studying the Edexcel 1MA1 specification (probably at Foundation Level, although there may be some room for flexibility on this).
The course covers the key areas of:
Number, Algebra, Ratio and Proportion, Geometry, Statistics and Probability.
The exams will test your ability to:
- Use and apply standard techniques
- Reason, interpret and communicate mathematically
- Solve problems within mathematics and other contexts
If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or better in Maths GCSE you will need to resit. We would strongly suggest that students who do not have at least a Grade 5 also resit, as not having this grade may affect your chances of gaining access to certain jobs or academic courses in the future.
To ensure that the subjects you have chosen fit into our timetable please click the link below to view our subject blocking timetable 2019-2020 on our school website. Please note that this may be subject to change depending on course demand or staffing.
NOTE: the school reserves the right NOT to run courses where the number of students is not viable.
There are three exam papers, all of which need to be taken in the same session, usually separated by a few days. There are exam sessions in November and June of Year 12. If you do not get the grade you are hoping for in Year 12, you can re-join the group in Year 13.
We will discuss with you when to sit the exams and entries are made on a case-by-case basis.
