Brickwork Level 2 Diploma at East Surrey College

Course description

This highly practical course provides the base for an NVQ 2; you will learn bricklaying, arches, openings and walling. To achieve the qualification you will also need to demonstrate your understanding of erecting and dismantling access platforms.

Course content

Units/topics covered:
 
 Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
 Understanding information, quantities and communication with others
 Understanding construction technology
 Set out masonry structures
 Construct solid walling incorporating isolated and attached piers
 Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures
1 optional from 2:
 Construct masonry cladding
 Construct thin joint masonry

Entry requirements

Brickwork Level 1 Diploma.

Assessment

Online tests and a portfolio of evidence.

Financial information

If you are under 19 on 31/08/2016, tuition is free. If you are 19 or over please consult Client Services for advice and guidance on funding and eligibility.
 
Please be aware that there may be additional costs for equipment and educational visits. This information will be available from the curriculum staff at interview.
 

Future opportunities

Bricklaying Level 3 Diploma. It can also be used as a progression route to achieving a Bricklaying NVQ Level 2.

To meet health and safety requirements within our realistic work environment, learners must provide steel toe-capped boots/safety shoes and must wear suitable clothing.
