Sport (Level 3) at Shaftesbury School

Course description

The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma (Development, Coaching & Fitness) course extends the specialist work-related focus that many students will have experienced on the BTEC First Certificate in Sport. The course is comprised on six units which focus on active learning relating to the sports industry. It is an engaging program that is centred around project based learning and the application of theory to practical. This is an ideal qualification for students looking to build a career in the sport and active leisure sector. The Development, Coaching & Fitness focus of the course allows learners to develop the skills associated with sporting careers in coaching, PE teaching and leisure management. Students will secure coaching qualifications and attend an annual outdoor pursuits residential.

Entry requirements

General entry requirement for Level 3 is 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C incl. English Language and Maths. Subject specific entry requirements: Merit or Distinction in BTEC First Certificate in Sport, Sport and Active Leisure Diploma or GCSE PE or equivalent.
