Course description

Media Studies helps you to develop a wide range of skills. These will prepare you for a career in communication, creative or media industries and you will develop an enhanced appreciation of media and its role in all of our lives. You will also develop independent research skills that will make you a more articulate person, with the confidence to reach and explain your own views and interpretations. Media Studies is a qualification that has relevance for all aspects of modern life, and any career path whether your goal is a career in the film or gaming industry, journalism, television, or advertising. If you have an general interest in new technologies and the media industry and enjoy reading lifestyle magazines, social networking sites and reality television, or you have no clear plans for your immediate future, Media Studies has something to offer you. You will build on existing interests, balance academic and practical skills, and be actively encouraged to experiment, challenge and question. We can all benefit from a greater awareness of how technology, knowledge, power and money affect our lives; this Media Studies course is an important step towards a more knowledgeable and empowered future.

Entry requirements

 Grade C or above in GCSE English, Media Studies or Film Studies A passion for creative communication using various forms of technology The ability to express and develop your ideas in an exciting way The ability to manage your workload to meet coursework deadlines and complete exams.
