Accountancy (AAT) Intermediate Apprenticeship at Shipley College

Course description

Do you have a good head for business and a way with numbers?

Start your career in accountancy with this apprenticeship. You could work in any industry and apply your skills to manage the money of different sized organisations across the public, private and voluntary sectors. All companies need the services of an accountant to manage expenses, bills, taxes and payroll.

Topics you cover include processing book keeping, basic costing, control accounts, computerised accounts and working effectively in accounting as well as employee rights and responsibilities.

Entry requirements

  • First of all you need to find an apprenticeship vacancy in your chosen area. 

  • You will have an interview.

  • You must enjoy working with numbers.

  • 2 GCSEs at grades A*-C (9-4), in English & maths.

  • You will complete an initial assessment in English, maths & possibly ICT (if applicable).

  • You must pass an initial assessment in English & maths.

Future opportunities

After completing the intermediate apprenticeship, you can progress on to further study at college or use the skills you have developed and the experience you have gained at work to progress further in your job role/career.
