Health & Care Professions Access to Higher Education Level 3 at Chelmsford College
If you wish to gain qualifications, are committed to study and have an enthusiasm for the subject, this course will enable you to progress onto Higher Education. Degrees could include Nursing, Midwifery, Health & Social Work.
This course will enable learners to enter Higher Education without traditional qualifications. Your choice of pathway will largely depend on your degree and career aspirations. The Access to HE Diploma is validated by QAA through the Open College Network (OCN) Eastern Region and is a National Recognised qualification. If you wish to gain qualifications, are committed to study and have an enthusiasm for the subject, this course will enable you to progress onto Higher Education. These include Nursing, Midwifery, Health & Social Work, as well as a wide range of careers based on academic degrees, such as History, Psychology, Teaching and Science based areas. There are two pathways available: Humanities-Including Psychology, Sociology, History and English Literature. This course is also suitable for people who want to pursue a career in Primary School Teaching. Health Professions -including Psychology, Sociology, Biology and Health and Care. In addition to your chosen pathway you will study the following core subjects: Tutorial, Study Skills, ICT and Mathematics.
GCSE English at grade C or above or Level 2 Literacy: completion of a Higher Education Research questionnaire and attendance at interview. You must also have the minimum entry requirements for your chosen HE pathway.
Progression to HE is highly dependent on the university's entry requirements. This research must be undertaken prior to college admissions interview and a confirmed place on the course.
This course is best suited to the needs of adults/mature learners. You will need to have been out of full time education for a minimum of one year.
Completion of supplementary questionnaire.
You will also be required to complete and submit a Personal Statement. This statement will need to evidence your understanding of your chosen profession, your personal experience, transferable skills and your motivation.
There are various types of assessment including, written assignments, essays, presentations, practical investigations and exams completed at set times throughout the year. You will also develop your study and academic skills together with IT and mathematics skills essential for life at university.
This course is primarily designed for learners to enter an extensive range of Higher Education courses, such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, Midwifery and Operation Department Pratice .
