Four GCSEs at grade C or above including English is a good indicator that you will be able to cope with the demands of the written work. However, individual commitment, interest, motivation and personal organisation are key factors in success in this course. Pupils do not need to study GCSE Health & Social Care but if they do they should achieve above a C as an indicator of their interest in the subject.
Individual units are assessed either through student assignments presented as final portfolios of work or through external examination. Units 1, 9, 11 and 15 have an external examination. All other units are assessed through coursework portfolios.
This course provides an excellent foundation for students wishing to go into Nursing, Health Education and other health related careers or into Social Work, Social Care etc, as well as careers with children including Early Years teaching. The twelve uni programme provides good preparation for related employment as well as university entrance.
