Art and Design Level 3 Foundation Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

If you want to pursue a career in art and design, this is an excellent stepping stone from A-Level to Higher Education. We encourage you to explore a range of methods of working and thinking so that you can see where your strengths lie, before deciding which particular art and design direction to follow. Critical studies create awareness of the historical and contemporary importance of art, helping you to find a relevance and place for your own developing practice
Upon successful completion you will be able to progress onto Higher Education or into the Art and Design industry.
During this course there is an emphasis on drawing in its broadest sense and supporting exploration through: photography; fine art; painting; sculpture; ceramics; installation; textiles; fashion; graphics; print; illustration and animation.
You will then focus on a chosen specialist area, build upon your understanding to develop more advanced skills, which are used to build an exciting portfolio.

Entry requirements

You will need 5 GCSE’s (minimum grade C), 2 A-Level’s including an Art of Design related subject (minimum Grade C), or a Level 3 Extended Diploma qualification in an Art related subject. 
You will be required to attend an interview, where you will be required to show your art and design ability in a portfolio of artwork. You are also required to provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).


Assessment is a combination of individual meetings and formal assessments, where work is submitted for grading.
