Manufacturing Engineering Level 4 HNC Diploma EDEXCEL at Solihull College & University Centre

Course description

If you wish to progress on to electrical/electronic technology management or gain professional recognition by progression to Incorporated Engineer Status, then our HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering will give you the qualification to do so.

Course content

To gain the BTEC Level 4 HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering qualification you must achieve a minimum of 120 credits through both mandatory and optional modules which include:

- Analytical Methods for Engineers,
- Engineering Science,
- Project Design,
- Implementation and Evaluation,
- Electrical and Electronic Principles,
- Electrical Power & Further Mathematics for Technicians.

Entry requirements

A BTEC National Qualification or at least one A-Level in an appropriate subject or An NVQ Level 3 qualification. Mature students, who do not meet these academic qualifications, will have relevant work or life experience taken into consideration.

All students need to be able to demonstrate competency in English and Maths, possess suitable references and have a successful College interview.

Assessment

All modules are assessed by assignments; each unit's assessment is matched to the content of the unit.

Each unit can be assessed at Pass, Merit or Distinction levels, which are combined at the end of the qualification to give an overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Future opportunities

It is possible to gain entrance to the second year, of a three year degree - progress to a professional incorporation by the completion of bridging studies and professional interview.

    • Woodlands Campus

      An £8.5 million expansion of our Woodlands Campus now incorporates a new state of the art specialist centre for multi-craft, bricklaying, painting and decorating, plastering, carpentry and an expanded motor vehicle training facility. A new sports pitch also enhances the existing sports facilities.

      The new Engineering and Construction facility houses twelve new workshops; six for construction and six for motor vehicle. The rooms accommodate an MOT/motor sport workshop; an engine workshop and further rooms for decorating, plastering and brickwork.

      Woodlands has purpose-built engineering workshops as well as commercial-standard hair and beauty salons. Our IT facilities, learning resource centres and library are also first-rate.

      We also offer a selection of higher education courses at our Woodlands Campus so you can continue your studies with us.

      Via Bus or Train

      The main bus terminal in north Solihull is located in Chelmsley Wood centre. The number 94, 676, 694, 71, 966 and 966A stop at the main terminal with the number 94 stopping on Auckland Drive. The nearest train stations are Marston Green or Water Orton station both located approximately 20 minutes away.
